Programming Languages

Programming languages are formal systems of communication used by developers to write instructions that a computer can understand and execute. Each programming language has its own syntax, rules, and features that allow for the creation of software, websites, applications, and more. These languages serve different purposes depending on their design—some are general-purpose (like Python and Java), while others are domain-specific (like SQL for databases or HTML for web development).

Languages can be categorized as:

Low-level languages (e.g., Assembly) are closer to machine code and give developers more control over hardware but are harder to work with.      High-level languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) are more abstract, easier to use, and focus on simplifying complex tasks. Programming languages evolve over time to meet the changing needs of technology and industry, with trends like object-oriented programming (OOP) and functional programming (FP) influencing modern development practices.
